Highly Recommended to anyone interested in Astronomy or Cosmology

A very high quality book. It has details that aren't too complex, it has lots of pictures on big pages to help those who are a bit confused. It covers almost everything important about the studies of the Universe. It talks about the Universe, Celestial Objects, Matter, Atoms, Radiation, Gravity, The Big Bang, Life in the Universe, The Possible Fate of the Universe, How We View the Skies From Earth, Telescopes, The History of Space ranging from Ancient Astronomy, to the Space Age, and the present time. It also covers the Solar System, its history, the planets, the Sun, the Moon, The Kuiper Belt, Asteroids, Comets, Meteors. It also discusses the Milky Way, the stars, Nebulae, Extra-Solar Planets, the Galaxies and the clusters beyond the Milky Way, Constellation Charts, pictures of what the skies look like at night during every month of the year both North and South of the Equator. It also includes a Glossary too. The book is a bit large, but it's definitely a very interesting and colorful book with lots of pictures and details. I'd highly recommend it to anyone who is an astronomy buff or trying to become one.

Excellent book. Visually quite stunning and quite comprehensive

Excellent book. Visually quite stunning and quite comprehensive. One of the very best with its larger format. Being from 2008, it is rather overdue for an update, but it still has tremendous value for the many historical references. Then of course, 8 years of cosmological time is almost negligible on that scale. The binding is rather weak as it cannot handle the mass of this book. Otherwise, this is the go-to book about the Universe for me, as a basis for following, on a daily basis, the many new discoveries about the past, and what we may glean from it for the future (if we can keep it together, somewhat, here on planet Earth).

Fantastic book......horrible binding

A fantastic and interesting book for all! I love how the content is presented and the stunning pictures. The font is a bit small in places but there is so much information packed into this book it is well worth buying. I give 5 stars for the content but unfortunately the binding on this book is terrible. After about the 3rd time opening it, the binding has come apart. I'm sure the pages will start to fall out soon enough. I'll have to take off 2 stars for the poor quality of the binding. I purchased the paperback version. I'm not sure if the hard cover would have a better binding.

Not just very bad editing and grammar, but the worst part is the incomplete recipes which make it impossible to follow.

Not just very bad editing, there are many incomplete recipes which makes it impossible to follow. I was so hoping to keep this cook book and enjoy all the recipes they share because it all looks so wonderful, but after reading the beginning of the book and looking at a lot of recipes, there was no way I could justify paying over $30 for a book that has all these mistakes in it. The last straw was when I started finding recipes that didn't say what temperature to heat the oven. If they can fix all these mistakes, then I'd buy it and give it a 5-star rating, I'm sure. But until then, I wanted to warn others to save their money and not buy this book.

This is an awesome cook book!. I have been on a Ketogenic diet since April. I am down over 90 pounds. Many people quit a Ketogenic diet or do not start one because they think they will not be able to eat good food. Or they think they will not have much veriety in food choices. The wonderful authors of this book have proven that this is not true!!! If you know anyone on a Ketogenic diet or someone that should be ( health reasons) I would recommend whole heartedly that you share this book with them. This book also has information on starting and staying on this way of eating. Don't let them suffer through this way of life without knowing that they can do it while eating wonderfully delicious food!!! Better yet buy them a copy they will love you forever!

This is a great book and put together very nicely! I love the variety of recipes. There is something here for everyone. Some of the ingredients are hard to find in the typical grocery store but I just ordered what I needed online. Everything I have made so far has been very good and will become staples in the families meal plan! Thank you very much for all the ideas and helpful tips. You have proven that Low Carb and Ketogenic diets do NOT have to be boring and run of the mill! Keto On!

About the Author

LESLIE C. ALLEN is Professor of Old Testament at Fuller Theological Seminary. Formerly he was Lecturer in Hebrew, Aramaic & Judaism at London Bible College, where he has taught since 1960. He holds the M.A. degree from Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, in Classics & Oriental Studies. His Ph.D. is from the Univ. College of London, in Hebrew. Among his publications are The Greek Chronicles Parts 1 and 2 and The Books of Joel, Obadiah, Jonah and Micah for The NIC.
