Synopsis
This is an eBook only publication of Paul White’s abstract photography he freely admits being inspired and in response to Aaron Siskind’s work. He first came across Siskind’s work whilst scouring the books shelves of the library where he worked and then a little later he found a perfect copy of Carl Chiarenza’s monograph on Siskind ‘Pleasures and Terrors’ in a small bookshop at Hay-on-Wye.
This was in 1995, when White was 24 years of age. He was moved by Siskind’s photographs and words and immediately went out and began to set his large format camera up in various cities and towns, emulating Siskind’s style and personal expression.
White has now produced a strong portfolio of abstract works and this volume shows a varied study and cross-section of his work, as well as the reasons why he chose such a narrow form of self expression.
Paul White is well known for his black and white images of ruined farmhouses and mansions throughout Wales and has published two photographic books: ‘Ancestral Houses: The Lost Mansions of Wales’ (with poetry/prose by Damian Walford-Davies and Sian Melangell Davies) and ‘Poets Graves’ (with Damian Walford-Davies and Mererid Hopwood) both published by Gomer Press.

Not Your Standard Photography Book
By Daryl Lee Spiewak
Besides being about abstract photography, this book is not digitally related. The author spends the majority discussing why he takes these photos and who inspired him. Following in the footsteps of early photographers such as Siskind, Weston, and , this is an art book. The author uses a large format field camera and black & white film with looong exposures. Read this one if you are looking for something different

Fascinating story of a photographer's development
By Kindle Customer
Paul White presents the story behind his abstract photographs, both from a technical and an aesthetic perspective. He uses an old-fashioned wide frame camera that delivers magnificent results but takes minutes or even hours to capture the same view that a DSLR would take in tenths of a second, and almost all of his photos are of small segments of deteriorating walls.
His skill brings these walls segments to life as abstract photographs that can look like landscapes, natural objects, sculptures, or paintings.
Recommended for those interested in photography or abstract art, or simply new ways of looking at the world.

all photos (except for cover) are missing from this book
By Michelle A.
This tiny book contains only text. None of the photos inside the book is displayed. For example:
"These is an actual Pictorialistic photographs; it has been heavily digitally edited Source: photofox2-10. wikispaces.com" or "see image 5", but there are absolutely no images in this ebook.
also there are missing sentences. For example this is the whole paragraph:
"Read more: http"
